Hello, everyone!

I'm a 20-something year old male living in Philly looking for a little bit of help in improving on this t-shirt.

I'm trying to make it look like the album cover for the band Brand New's album Dj Entendu:

Someone else had this idea and theirs kind of looks amateur:

So...what are your suggestions on how to most closely achieve the look of the album cover? I realize it'll be a super challenging project but I'm really up for the challenge and I'd love to nail it the first time!

I'm thinking dip dying the faint blue on bottom and orange/yellow on top, then tie dying over that.  Any thoughts on that?
