This room has been a work in progress for the last year and a half. I was using the guest bedroom as a craft room. There was a large ugly closet built into the room, dull dirty carpet, pinkish walls and turquoise trim. And very little room to turn around in. Especially with piles of craft materials, fabric, sewing machine, futon, ironing board....etc. Every time we had a guest, it was stuff everything in bins and hide in our bedroom. And the room was no more appealing when clean.

We remodeled an extra room downstairs for a craftroom, built in shelves, a counter, room for bins of stuff. I'll have to post pictures later.

But the crowning jewel is the new guest room. We demolished the closet (that was fun!). Painted the trim and walls, installed a folding door, leveled the floor and installed floating, wood look flooring. The only thing we purchased was the flooring and baseboard.

I dyed the comforter darker blue, re-painted an amazing ugly, black chest of drawers (curb find), painted and repaired and recovered some kitchen chairs (another curb find). The seat covers are silk scraps from a friend that uses them in covering mats for framing. There is also a side table (curb find). I made the curtains from a $5 Christmas Tree Shop curtain panel find. We had purchased the little kitchen table years ago and moved from room to room, never really having room for it. Now it has a home. A few musical instruments, and we are ready for guests. They will be here Thursday.

The colors are pale, soft green, darker green for the drawers and chairs and white trim. My favorite room!

A little detail:

And of course the before.

You did an amazing job redoing this room.  I especially like your found furniture that you redid and saved from the landfill. I'm sure your guests must have enjoyed their stay in this lovely room.

Oh they did. Especially since there was still a foot of snow on the ground in Maine and we had bare ground and tons of crocus flowering. They almost did not go home!

Thank you for the compliments. It was a fun redo. I like redoing old furniture, it needs to be loved.

Thank you. The switch plate was fun...our fiends were trying to read the music and finally decided it was an orchestra score.

The stuff went down to a new craft room with shelves, a counter, and room for more stuff. It's pretty stuffed as well, but much more organized. Pics here....http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=432837.msg5184127#msg5184127

It's actually grown in volume!
