Our lovely neighbors around the way invited The ManFlesh and I to a dinner party last weekend.  Of course we asked wht we could bring and they said "just yourselves."  Well, we're not the types to show up empty handed so we thought we'd just pick up a bottle of wine.  The next day I was grocery shopping and saw the daffodils and picked up a 10-stem bunch. They were only $1.99 so it seemed like a lot of blossom for the buck (ninety-nine).  After I put them in a vase at home, it hit me that flowers might be a better (i.e. "safer") option for us to bring as a hostess gift.

When I decided on daffodils for them (three and a half 10-stem bunches) I decided that I could use some of the green burlap from my stash to doll up a vase.  One dollar store vase and a bit of lace from the fabric store later et voila!  A pretty, spring bouquet.

Very nice!  I just bought some of those daffodils but mine didn't have a fancy shmancy vase.  Wink

Dafferdills are my all time favorite! I have a yard full of them. Next up are the Tennessee flower...Iris. Paper whites might slip in there, but I don't see them, yet.

Very great use of cheap supplies.
You never cease to amuse me.
I am glad your friends can enjoy, too.

Daffies are one of my faves, too, which is saying something since I'm usually not that attracted to yellow flowers.  I know if I planted them here, they wouldn't be blooming yet.

While I was at the dollar store I picked up 2 more of those vases to have on hand for another such occasion.  I have bins and bins of fabrics to use to decoration them, too. Wink

Thanks! When I remembered that I had that green burlap I knew it had to be the daffies!

Not only is it lovely, but it is obvious that you put some thought into presenting such a nice hostess gift...I am sure the thought and the actual flowers were a hit!

I love daffodils, too...I have all sorts of different colors, but the yellow ones still seem to be my favorite even though yellow is not a color I really like in anything else!

Green burlap?  uh-oh....shopping time!

Thank you!  Our daffies just came up last week and it was nice to see them out there.  Light yellow, these are.
