'In case of thoat stampede, break glass. D.Thoris'
Okay, this one's obscure. I did a pair of old fashioned pistols, was stuck on what to put in the plaque, and the OH suggested 'thoat stampede'. It's a nod to Edgar Rice Burrough's John Carter of Mars series.
Old thrift store frame retouched, painted up toy pistols with metal rose charms, scrapbook paper, lace, and a copy of a bit of vintage wallpaper-I was lucky enough to save a book about wallpaper from the discard pile. Insert frame is a painted clearance ornament. Mixed colors to get a purpley brown and a purpley copper on the pistols.

This is awesome, congrats on a good thrifty find. I am looking at making a shadow box finding the frame is the hardest part at the moment. Well done on finding a good one.

Thank you! I'm fond of this one. I sold it to a young couple decorating their first apartment. And thrift stores are the best for finding the perfect frames.
