I started this quilt back in January and just finished hand stitching the binding this morning. Grin  It's hard to believe that it started off as 315 4.5"x4.5" squares!  The finished quilt measures just under 7'x5'.  I felt like the quilt top itself was loud enough so I just went with the same chocolate brown from the small squares for the back and the binding.

Since it was my first time quilting anything larger than a knitting needle roll, I decided to do straight lines that followed the pattern of the quilt top for the actual quilting part.  Here's a close up where you can see the quilting lines.

Overall I'm extremely happy with how it turned out but will definitely be making something a bit smaller for my next quilt  Cheesy

Here's an awesome tutorial MareMare did on how to make a Disappearing 9 Patch quilt top - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=422253.0#axzz2xT0UpfHH

Love the way you laid it out -- don't recall ever coming across that great zigzag visual in any of the Disappearing or Tossed 9 Patches I've seen.

I absolutely love this. The layout is different than I have seen. I may have to try it very soon  Cheesy
