I made this tapir for my partner, The Raging Sloth, in the art doll swap. She was very well received. My partner had "gothic Victorian" as a theme she liked along with a list of animals that included the tapir. I have always wanted to make something with this animal so this was the perfect opportunity. I sculpted the head from Super Sculpey Firm and made the clothes from shirts I found at a second-hand store. My goal was to utilize as many edges and elements from the shirts that I could to reduce the work on my end. I used a mini-top hat tutorial to make the matching hat. I wanted to keep going with making accessories but realized that I should probably stop and move on. Grin

A close-up of the head join (the head is glued on so the ribbon is purely decorative):

The red velvet outfit that includes a hooded cape, a mini top hat and a stuffed squid all in the same material. I made the little skull pendant:

The purple and black outfit:

You can see the matching purse here:

So very COOL!  I have all kinds of questions about this creature.  Like, what is her life story?  How many lovers does she have (she seems a bit clandestine..)? or maybe she is a spy!  She might be part of the ruling class...or maybe she is a clairvoyant!  She needs a series of books that will eventually become a batch of movies that will make the normal folk squeal Grin

She is just amazing.  I really like the blend from head to body.  The sculpture of the head is wonderfully subtle though stylized.  Very cute little tapir mouth.  Her dress is fabulous.  Can't say enough good things about this piece!   Cheesy

Fantastic - and I especially love the hooded cape - and all the little accessories - just too cool!
