I made “Saint Pigeonella” for meowari in the Art Doll 3 Swap.

She is crafted on a 5”x12” wood panel.  I sculpted her face with Martha Stewart air dry craft clay.

I made three pigeons, since that was meowari’s theme that originally inspired me.  They are printed images that I sandwiched between plastic and stitched on my sewing machine.  They are stuffed with some flannel scraps from my serger.  I think they are funny, but if I made them again I would chose a color other than gray for the thread (though it does match the birds, which is what I thought I wanted!).

The flowers on the left are pieces of washi tape that I cut out and assembled into a little garden.

I wanted to jazz up the edges of the wood, but I’m so bored of ribbon, so used some decorative tape and then studded the edges with dollar store thumb tacks that I colored with alcohol ink.

I have to say, I didn't know where my ideas were going to take me, but I really love how she turned out in the end!

Thanks to you all for the kind words!  It was fun to go through my supplies and see what I could make...I think the only item I bought specifically for this project was the wood panel.  Her hair was the first thing I wanted to try since it was an idea I've had for a while (but no project to use it on), and then it just kept growing from there!  Cheesy

Wow, she has a whole lot goin' on!  I really like her face with skull halo.

Grin  I love art pieces where you see something new each time you look at it, so I tried to incorporate a lot of different elements, but still (hopefully) keep it kind of cohesive!

I love all of the details - the hair, the sparkly legs but ESPECIALLY the pigeons. I thought only Bert from Sesame Street and I liked pigeons. Great use of mixed materials.
