Anyone up for a round of mini altered tins?  The large tins are fun...but anything on a small scale is uber adorable! Wink

These adorable mini altoid tins measure approximately 1.5" by 2.25" and *gasp* have a nice flat surface...perfectly suited for whatever we have in mind Grin

As for themes, I am open to suggestions.  Or we could list our top three favourite themes in swap questionnaires and have our partners go at it Smiley

This could be fun - what if you can't get your hands on the mini Altoid tins?  Would a substitute be acceptable?

Hmmm...good point.  If it helps...I got mine at W*l-mart and it came in a 3-pack.

What did you have in mind in terms of substitutes?

I would have to look - I have some mini candy containers, but they are not hinged.  I have some vintage tobacco containers that are smaller, but I would have to check the dimensions.  I'll look at Walmart here, but I don't remember seeing minis at the ones in Canada.

As for themes - what about just anything goes and see what people come up on their own?

I've been thinking about what I can do with the tins, and so far I'm stuck on the idea of altering the tin and stocking them with tongue-in-cheek affirmations Roll Eyes

I would have to look - I have some mini candy containers, but they are not hinged.  I have some vintage tobacco containers that are smaller, but I would have to check the dimensions.  I'll look at Walmart here, but I don't remember seeing minis at the ones in Canada.

Those are great options!  I can't imagine anyone saying no to vintage tobacco containers Wink
And perhaps any substitute that is pretty close to the dimensions of the mini altoid tins would work?
Not sure if the minis are new, but I've only found them recently...and I've been stocking up on the containers...erm, I mean mints Grin

As for themes - what about just anything goes and see what people come up on their own?

I am up for that! Cheesy
But I think some swappers might prefer a little more 'structure' in terms of what they can make for their swap partners *thinks*
Hmm...how about letting swappers list their top 3 favs or indicating that they want their partners to do whatever they do best?

Yes, that's a good idea!  Maybe put in a top 3-5 themes/likes/in in the Q for those who would like a bit more guidance.  Besides - stalking is part of the fun of the swapping for me.

I mentioned the mini tins to a friend and he had another mini Altoids tin that he had in his stuff that had a few mints in it and gave it to me - it doesn't look like yours - it looks more like the original larger tin, so I can use that.  I also had a habit of buying the mints for the tins too - but the mints are so yummy!  I have a collection of the larger ones, and my plan was to take them, and a few other tins to make a magnetic advent calender for the fridge.

I hope not... What about sending out a pm to those who were in tin swaps before?

You may want to look at the swap forum FAQs, because there are some rules that need to be met before you start swapping I think.
