I've had this sockoctopus pinned for a while because I thought it was kind of cute:

I have some socks laying around that are missing their mates and decided to give it a go. It was super easy to make! I cut the end of the sock off since it was a little worn. I attached safety eyes and sewed the end shut. Then I cut the rest into equal width strips, stuffed and tied the tentacles together to close it. I am considering it a fail though because I don't like it at all. I think mine turned out fine, I just realize that it is difficult to tell that it is actually an octopus and he doesn't sit very well. But it only wasted about 10 minutes and now I can delete the pin! If you decide to try it for yourself I would recommend a thicker sock.

Sounds fun!

HSG, those are beautiful!

Aw, I think it's cute ohiodiygirl! Do you think it could be a kid friendly project? My nephews are always trying to get me to make more amigurumi for them...but it takes so long. If I could get them to make some sock critters.... Cheesy

Lovin' this idea!  Lately I've been doing more pin-inspired baking than anything else, but I've been pinning all over the shop!

It is a great idea!
Ohiodiygirl - Your Sockoctopus is still cute, but I think you are rigth, it would be better with a thicker sock. And it looks like the head is bigger compared to the tentackles, on the 'pin'.

It is extremely kid friendly, it only really involves cutting, stuffing and tying.

Most of the pins I actually follow through with are food-related. I was wondering if these would count? There is a cooking board on craftster....Wink

Loving the projects already. This is going to rock.

Cooking & Baking Pins are welcome! Grin

If Craftster has a board for it, then it is welcome....and that covers pretty much everything! Cool
