Hello! I am new to sewing and was wondering how I can go about sewing beads onto a plain dress to jazz it up.

I don't want to take apart the dress or anything. I just want to add some beads on the bodice of the dress, but I don't know how to do this without sewing the beads through all the layers of the fabric and having the knots rub against my skin. I'm not skilled enough to take apart the dress, sew on the beads, and then sew the dress back together... so is there a way I can just add beads to the surface of the dress (I would like to sew them on and not glue them on) without the knots and stitches going through to the inner most layer of fabric?

Please help!

Thank you!

If you don't want to open seams then I would suggest doing the beads with thread, then sewing a thin layer of lining inside the dress to cover the beaded areas. Then it will protect your skin from any irritation from the knots and thread work.
