I recently did a live painting demo for a fundraiser.  I've participated in this event each year for the past three years.  This year I think I'm more pleased with the results than in the past.

The painting is an acrylic base with oil over-painting (so I could develop solid color without having to deal with extended drying times) and was painted on 18" x 36" cradled Ampersand Hardbord.  The time I had available to paint was very limited as the auction ended at hour 8. The painting took me an additional hour to finish during the event.

"Acknowledging Tradition: Anticipation of the Empty Nest"

The final painting:

Wow!  I love this!  I'm not sure I could do much if it was a live demo and people could watch.  I'm so impressed.

Oh wow!  That is so very impressive.  I agree with kwality, it would be quite unnerving for me to paint to a live audience.  But how wonderful that you're able to do this for charity!

I've been a fan of your paintings for a long time. And this one is added to my list. Smiley Must have been interesting to work with so many watching and going on while being photographed, too.

Thanks!  Painting demos isn't all that difficult.  I do get nervous, but once I get started it's really a lot of fun.  Everyone is always respectful and they ask such interesting questions.  Besides, it's good practice!

This painting is beautiful! I've created art in front of crowds before and it certainly is quite an experience. They love it! I'm going to have to check out your other work now... you have garnered yourself another fan. Wink
