I agree, I think an art doll is whatever you want to call an art doll.  Mine is kind of weird and nontraditional, not really a figure or a doll, but it has elements of both incorporated.

I got in the crafty-zen-zone yesterday and almost finish my doll for meowari!  I actually accidentally kind of worked on it for pretty much the entire day, but I also did some laundry, so that's okay.  Cheesy   My pieces from the day before were dry, so that was exciting, and then it just kind of spiraled from there...I think it needs a few finishing touches and then it will be done!

I Know what I'm making & have been sketching & I know how I'm going to make the Art doll. It's so much fun finding & then making all the things & crafting them into the end piece! Looking for things, some stuff I might have to go shopping for a few things haven't done that for awhile.
I agree about "What is a Art Doll?" Just what the Artist wants it to be!

So....I spent all afternoon and into the evening working on my dollS...that's right, there are two.  But one by itself didn't really make sense, there needed to be a partner.  Hope you don't mind cmarion - but it'll make sense when they arrive.  Smiley  I'm hoping to send by Wednesday! !!

Oh no! two dolls not one! What shall I do?

Of course I don't mind and extra doll. I'm working on a shelf for my dolls....an old mantle piece. I spent the weekend and today painting the guest bedroom (3 coats of paint, ceiling too!), painting chairs to go in the guest room, making patchwork seats for the chairs...and then to top it off, I moved a 7 foot set of shelves in the craft room, cut out a heater vent hole in the backing, removed some baseboard. Since moving the shelves involved unloading the shelf, the craft room looked like a bomb had gone off. Do you know how much cat hair can collect in one year behind things?Huh Well, the room is pretty much clear now, everything back on the shelf, in the basement or thrown away...except for the piles on the ironing board and the table. Guests are arriving in a week and a half. And the guest room has no floor yet. (The extra guests are sleeping in the craft room, hence the cleaning and moving of stuff). Ahhhhh....

So no dolls yet, but I dream of them, I've got about three more or less solid ideas in my head, and I found some interesting bits today that might end up in the mix. After the 5 quilt squares for various volunteer projects. What ever happened to March?

I've got one full formed idea, and a couple of half formed ideas that I'm trying to figure out if I can make work, before I decide on what to do Smiley.

I think I'll try to get my doll packaged up tonight to send out tomorrow or Thursday!  I can't believe I've already finished it!  Amazing what I can get done when I'm procrastinating other things.  Cheesy

After all the complaining and moaning I did, I had an inspiration this morning while preparing to teach Microsoft Access....Access is so boring that my brain entertains itself. I hope I can realize my epiphany in some form! Now to sketching, researching, sketching and lots of lots of thinking.

The gallery is up : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=432401.0#axzz2x1oOeG5f
There's a link on the first post, too. Go for it early birds!

And the rest of you - do not stress out that some folks are faster than you. It's a good thing and makes us all work harder? faster? Whatever - have fun creating - that's what it's all about! (clap, clap!)
