Hanging out in the woods

I recently claimed rscowtown in the OGS swap for a prayer flag. She indicated she would like something around the theme of Love, and so I got a snooping.
It soon became apparent that my rscowtowns religious devotion rang against a particular fond memory of my dearest Nan, and I just knew I had to use my that recollection as my inspiration.
My gorgous Nan, (photo at the bottom) was a Salvation Army member and sang in many gospels (like musicals or operas), but her favourite hymn and the one that always makes me think of her is "As the deer". Its a beautiful hymn well worth looking up..... She was without question the saving grace of my life, and I miss her know as much as when she died 22 years ago
I have to also tell you that my crafty fingers are without question inherited from my dear Nan, who would sit and knit like a speed train every day, who would cook welsh tea cakes and pasties from 6.30 am till 6.30 pm, and who knew a bit about gardening and growing veg too !
anyhoo, without further ado - a prayer flag made with my Nan in my heart and "As the deer" ringing in my ears.

Rscowtown's and her husbands initials carved into the tree

Me and My nan, 35 years ago (note the knitting !)

LATEST project - I'm compiling a "handed down" recipes boom and so if I get you in a swap, would you be so kind to find a recipe from your childhood. type it up - if you want to decorate, then please do :

This is very lovely and detailed...a tribute to your Nan for the creativity and skills she passed on to you!!

I love all of the stitching, but in particular, the denim pond...

It is wonder to have such inspiration from the heart to drive your creations

In the photo, your Nan is looking at you with love, and you are beaming!  I love it.

I had a Grandma Oakley.  She passed in 1999 and I think of her every day.  We are lucky to have had our 'Nan' and our 'Oakley'.

I think it is so cute how you added their initials in the tree!

I really like this, the pond and especially the textural tree.  Smiley
