What a massive waste use of oil paint.

I love, love, LOVE the rich pigment of paint, especially oils and even oil pastels.  So I was playing around and started doing this thing that basically is tube painting but only with dots that (ideally) form peaks so it's kind of like pointillism and it also created an impasto texture which I like since I do so love texture.

Anyway, did a basic field of poppies and a dalmatian portrait on yellow.  I have lots more planned but my hand hurts and I am working through these .41 fl oz tubes like crazy (but I can't use bigger ones and get the same effect  Roll Eyes)

Love them.  I'm sure they'll take 8 years to dry, but are well worth it.  Smiley

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Thanks!  I know.  I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with them while they're drying, especially since I seriously have like 7 more I already am planning.  We have a 3 bedroom apartment for just DH and I but the rooms are tiny and my craft supplies alone already use the entirety of the 2nd bedroom.  I seriously think I'm just going to line the floor, walls, and furniture of the 3rd room in cardboard (the upside of just having moved) and then close the door and anticipate not using the room for anything else for the time being  Roll Eyes

Eeep!  I like the effect very much, you did a wonderful job on these.  I'll be excited to see the series progress.  You absolutely have me convinced to start trying oil painting in the coming months.  The drying is going to be a pain in the rear, though -- I am so impatient that I have a hair dryer just for my craft room so that I can make my acrylics dry faster!  Tongue

You'll have to let us know how long they really do take to dry Smiley  I'm loving the dalmation, the black and white looks so great on that vibrant yellow background!
