Still playing with the template I purchased:

See my post here - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=431793.0#axzz2v35ICY2I
The template is from Ten Seconds Studios - http://store.tensecondsstudio.com/mimemimedo.html

One of the parents donated canvas that he uses at his frame shop to print photos. So one side is rough, natural canvas and the other was coated with a plastic-y gesso-like substance.

I painted the rough, natural side with layers of acrylics, some metallic paints. I stenciled and printed with bubble wrap and bottle caps....

Some detail shots:

It was difficult to sew through - with machine and by hand. I think I will travel to the discount fabric store and buy some untreated, softer canvas.

This was the look i was hoping for - mine is too "pretty". We put this on the tables when the preschoolers paint so it is a gorgeous collection of paint and glue and glitter and who knows what else.

I will replace this one with a nice, new piece and take this one home to make more dolls!

Thanks for looking..

When I craft, I always lay out paper...down the road, that paper become useful with all of the colors, glitter, coffee spills etc.

Smmarrt--you made another beautiful art piece..the colors and pattern are just gorgeous!!!  I like the idea of having a lot of these strung on a line...maybe demonstrating all sorts of techniques...

yum--this is so inspiring for the up and coming art doll swap, right?

Thanks. I realize I need to mix some more media into these dolls - right now I am just enjoying the process.

And Miss AIMR - Art Doll swap, soon. I'm going to San Diego to see my folks for a few days but I'll be back this weekend and decide what kind of swap, etc.

Love your mix media art doll Smmarrt love the colors & textures. It would be fun using that pattern for a swap & everyone would make totally different dolls! I think this would be fun. I have a pattern like yours in one of my books or I could just draw one up I also think there are some free ones online.

Good Idea! I love it!!  Cool
