Hello!
I've recently gotten a Pfaff 1469 sewing machine that had been my grandmothers.  I was very excited to have it because this would be my first computerized sewing machine.

...however, low and behold, I just can't seem to get it be properly threaded.  I know that it is in working order because my mum had been using it recently.  I've checked the manual, and it is no help.

My issue lies with the bobbin thread.  No matter what I seem to do, the bobbin thread just refuses to be picked up.  Occasionally I can get it to initially catch and can bring it up to the needle plate, but when I try to sew, the needle is just not catching it.

I've attached a few pictures.  I've tried with both the thread NOT in the moving catch as well as being pulled by the catch.

Anyone have a clue?  I would love to hear it!!

Your bobbin is the wrong way round.
The little latch is supposed to be at the 12-o-clock-position. Did you put the bobbin the right way in? Holding it in hand, open side facing you, the thread will run counterclockwise ! You pull it into the bobbin-"holder", through the slit...

Sorry, I'm wrong. Yet another different way to correctly thread this kind of bobbin.
Just have a look here, it's page 13:

I'm afraid that is the exact manual I've been using. Sad  I've threaded the bobbin according to it, and still nothing.  It just won't catch the needle.
Sometimes when I place it on the moving catch, it actually jams up the bobbin.

Timing wrong? The needle has to be at an exact point at a certain stage. Not that I know which one that could be. Nor if you can handle that yourself. But if you say it's jamming the bobbin... well, I'd consult a technician.

Oooh...now that you mention it, the catch doesn't quite meet up with the needle when it goes around.  I bet you that's what the issue is.  Shucks.  I'll have to get it to a city before I can use it.  Thanks!
