The stool I sit on when I sew isn't very comfy, so I made this patchwork cushion for it.

I've always thought of patchwork as kind of boring and tedious so I was a little hesitant to start this project, but it came together surprisingly quickly.  I used 2" squares of pretty much every color of fabric in my stash.

I think it went so fast because I love the colors and the pattern so much and I was super excited to see it come together.  Cheesy

During this project my sewing machine crapped out on me, so I took it apart and thoroughly cleaned and oiled it (something that hasn't happened since I've owned the thing, and I've had it about a decade) - he ran so much better after a good cleaning that it made me feel guilty for not maintaining him properly.  Sad  So everybody, go clean your machine!

I used a white flannel for the back and sides, and I decided on an octagon shape 'cause I thought it would be easier to sew in straight lines rather than trying to make a circle.

I am ridiculously proud of this thing.  It just makes me happy every time I see it.  Cheesy

You have the right to be proud. It is very well made, the colours are lovely, and the squares line up. Not easy!

Thank you!  Cheesy  Yeah, I have a new respect for quilters now, getting all those fiddly squares in the right places was a pain.  Roll Eyes
