Brace yourself people...
I could not wait a moment longer so I drove into town and got to the post office as soon as they opened this morning. The box is in shreds, it didn't survive my opening it in the car.
Now... let me say that I am a relatively mild-mannered woman in my mid-thirties who doesn't outwardly get super excited about things. But, if I'd had the car windows rolled down I can only image the looks this stay-at-home, artsy-fartsy mom would have received. I "squeed" like an eighteen year old fan girl. *blushing*
Today, Ludi's package arrived...
The group shot:
The ephemera (A humorous greeting card with a sweet note and a postcard with bats!!):
The smalls (Which will be perfect for my children. My son's favorite colors are blue and orange and it's wonderful to be able to share the creativity) The faces are stitched on the fun fur and each monster has little pompoms attached as ears. Very clever:
And the gem... a human-faced barn owl with horns and a large blue tentacle topped with fins. SQUEEEE!!!!
The face with a beautiful and subtle coloring on its head. The dark specks of the barn owl dotted with pink:
Another shot of the exquisite embroidery work where here the pale owl body smoothly transitions to the blue tail:
Even the fins weren't left wanting for attention to detail:
The tail and the eyes protrude so cleverly from the piece:
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This has been such a wonderful first-time swap experience for me. I loved creating work for someone else so much that I can hardly wait for feedback to let me into my next swap. Thank you Ludi, you have made my first experience so awesome and wonderful. I gift friends and family art work often but hardly ever receive anything handmade. These are truly treasures. Now, as soon as my honey wakes up I am putting this owl-beast on my wall right above my work table. <3
