Since it seems a few craftsters are going to participate in the Wild Olive Spring Club I thought I would create a board where we could talk about it and share progress.

The stitch club includes embroidery and English paper pieced hexagons to make a lap quilt.  You get a new design to embroider every week.

Here is a link if you want more info or want to sign up

Yay! I'm excited that others here are going to be doing the stitching club too.

lindyv321 - Have you done any of the other seasons?

Also, I just realized this is in the Friends of Craftster area of the forums. Would we be leaving interested people out by not putting this in the public area?

This will be my first season.  I just stumbled upon her blog a few months ago.  I think I have pinned 90% of the projects she has posted!

Not sure where I would post it in the public forums.... Is there an off topic chatty board for non FOC's???

I've been following her blog for a while, and we follow each other on Instagram. I don't know if you are on Instagram or use Flickr, but people that join the stitching clubs tag their progress photos on IG and share them with the Wild Olive Flickr group. It's been fun connecting with other people working on the same project and see the changes and tweaks that people make to personalize them.

Aside from the stitching club stuff, I've only stitched up one other pattern of her's so far. It's from her shop.

I guess I pictures it in the "needlework" > "stitch-along" area, but it also has some sewing/quilting to it. Maybe "miscellaneous topics" > "craft-alongs."

That otter is too cute!  I love all her projects!

I have moved the topic!  I hope it's in the right place and that other people come stitch with us!

I'll try to help you promote it. Smiley

Thanks! I stitched up the otter hoop for my sister. Her college mascot is the otter. She is also studying marine science and loves all sea life. It seemed fitting.

Thanks, Ludi!

lindyv321 - Have you gotten your fabric yet? I'm trying to work from my fabric stash. I don't have enough of the floral to complete the pattern for a lap quilt, but I don't really want to make one anyway. Do you think they look okay together?

All right, I'm in!

It will be interesting, because I haven't done any embroidery since I was in grade-school, but I figure if they're small like this, I can re-do them multiple times if the first few don't come out right in the beginning.

ActsofCraftiness - I think those colors are going to look great.  Very spring/summery.

I'm also trying to work from my stash.  How do you think it would look with a mish-mash of blue and white prints?  I think I'm going to go for a scrappier look so there isn't an emphasis on larger hexie "flowers."

I have been collecting the patterns for each of the Stitch-Alongs, but haven't taken up the needle (or the scissors) yet. Maybe this will be the round that finally gets me going.

My plan is to make pillow covers out of the hexagons- one for each season. Back in the summer, I bought my fabrics and floss, but then broke my wrist right when school ended, thus ending my ability to embroider for the next few months! Then, I bought fabrics & floss for the fall version, but got a little crazy with school (and a class I had to take for part of my teacher re-licensure). I didn't buy any fabrics or floss for the winter version.

I do happen to have a stack of fat quarters in spring solids, but I haven't looked at the fabric requirements to see if I have enough. But now, I think I'll check out the directions and see what else I need. I'll have to adjust the amounts because I'm only making a pillow, so I might have enough solids. Then, I'll just need to pick out a coordinating floral.

This could be the season I actually get started! Smiley Thanks for posting this lindyv321!
