Horray! spun yarn!

This is approximately 40 yards of cable plied shetland wool. It took me ALL DAY. No word of a lie, ALL DAY.  Any minute between waking up, feeding kids and self and going to bed was spent spinning this yarn on Monday. It was ridiculous. But it's done.  And it was homework, so I had no choice but to finish it.

And this one is a small sample of boucle, with handspun silk singles as the base and binder, and gotland as the boucle.

And that's about it for me this week.   What have you been up to?

Those are both fabulous! I need to learn to do both of those techniques. Maybe someday. Maybe I can learn new techniques this summer when I actually get a chance to spin again. Ha! Was the boucle homework too? it looks like it will be a lot of fun to work up. They both do!

I have stuff to share. Let's see if it gets up today or not. Bah! 2 skeins, though, 2!

Yup, both homework! And both worked out well enough the first time! Thank goodness for that!

DROOL! That boucle is delicious!!! Am I strange for wanting to rub it under my chin, or is that the yarnie in me?

I have stuff to share, holy cow! I think I missed 3 FFs?

Mostly merino in various greens and blues, but a smidge of shetland I suspect, plus allllll that rainbow firestar! NOMNOMNOM! Chain plied on the fly to DK weight, and will someday be socks for me Cheesy

Brown superwash, cinnamon alpaca, and a touch of lime merino and lime firestar. 2 ply DK and the first project I did on a Turk. Hopefully this will be boyfriend socks by next Christmas. I picked a complicated pattern Tongue

And I just finished this alpaca/merino/firestar yarn for a challenge over on Ravelry. The colours of the batt reminded me of Poison, one of my grandmother's favourite perfumes. It's 70 yards of 2 ply aran. The progress photo has more accurate colour.

yum! those are some drool worthy yarns, Alexus!  And no, it's not weird that you want to rub the boucle on your chin, at least not around here Smiley

Drool-worthy projects so far, indeed.

I have more to share this week, some dark brown Welsh top.  I bought a pound of it during the Christmas holiday and finally opened the bag the other day.  One is a single-ply and the other, a double.  I'm so happy to see that there isn't so much overtwist with these two!  It seems like the learning curve has been absolutely crazy for me.

Alexus, that first one looks freakin' professional! You are doing so good. They all look lovely. Seriously, you are your own little mill.

Dreaklock love, yours are so fluffy and fun. At least they look fluffy. Are they super soft?

Rodelphia, EEEEEEE! I'm so happy for you. It's beautiful. The yarn is great, too. It reminds me of a sherbet too. Are you going to ply it? How? I love it as a single.

Ohhhhh, squishy gorgeous yarns, dreadlocklove!

Yay Rodelphia! Go with the crazy instincts Cheesy

And thanks everyone for the comments, I'm pretty proud of how pro my yarns look these days (BUAHAHA I'm my own yarn mill Tongue). Eventually, I'm gonna have to learn some crazy yarn structures like coils and autowrapping, so I'd better hurry up and build my bicycle wheel quill-wheel.

The picture isnt that great but I was too excited about it to wait for good lighting. Smiley
