Aww, thanks everybody!  I was pretty proud of it.  I kept wanting to do something AiW with this image and played around with different ideas but Tenniel's stuff just lends itself SO MUCH to block printing I couldn't resist!  Roll Eyes

That's freehand? Holy crow, you are one talented crafter! How long did it take you to do that?

It took me about a week (probably 10-12 dedicated hours or so) to draw it.  I feel embarrassed that it took that long but I was babysitting a friend's teen daughters for like 10 days and their house is just super dark so trying to draw on the gray linoleum with pencil was just so tedious, plus there were constant evaluations over what detail was unrealistic vs. what I might be able to get.  I wanted it to be as close to the original as possible.

Then it took me probably another 20 or so hours over a period of a few weeks to carve it all.  I enjoy carving but with lino (instead of stamp rubber) and something this size with this detail, my hand was really hurting.  I actually hadn't carved any kind of stamp or lino since I was a kid until this past summer/early fall.  I have fibromyalgia and I knew it would hurt my hands but I do like carving so I figured it was better to do it now than to wait til I'm older and it'll just hurt more  Cheesy

I will say it was really hard to let the cut go with the print.  But my partner (the ever amazing onyxnox!) is a paper crafter (among a billion other things) so I considered it part of her gift so that she could use it in the future.  I did keep two or three prints of it and I may someday choose to actually put one of them up but I'm more in love with the cut  Cheesy  There's just something about the lines of even the part you cut away that I love the look of.  If only it came in more fun colors  Grin

I love it - you did a great job - I was thinking I may use it to make print some fabric to make a crafting apron and tote with.  You must have had the patience of a saint to carve it all!

That's really awesome, and large! You're right, that would have been difficult to part with.
Way to go!

Okay so I did this a couple of months ago for a swap and realized I never posted it! Roll Eyes  This was (I think) 8x10" slightly simplified version of a scene from Alice in Wonderland with Tenniel's illustration (since that was my swap partner's preference).  I sent the cut along with a print (holy crap, SO hard to do) but hopefully onyxnox is enjoying it in her crafting!

In case you're wondering, yes, it took FOREVER

Forgive the mistakes, I'm terrible at printing but I'm working on it!!

The cut itself...

It's amazing ! Well done, it's wonderful !

I don't see any printing mistakes. These types of prints are made to look that way. A bit grainy and textured. The only big boo boo you could do, is adding a thumb print to it {on accident} Grin And even that could be OK for a signature. And initial the center of that.

You did a wonderful job. I would bet that it took forever! It is very detailed. I love the image you chose. I can't really pick a favorite feature. It all looks great. I love all the hearts, and it looks great printed in red.

This is awesome - and "slightly simplified"Huh  Nothing simplified about it - I know that was a ton of work.  Love it!
