i wanted some Dodo fabric for a swap project but i couldnt find any in U.K and the shipping/import tax/other random fees just made it too expensive to get it anywhere else so  when i found some large rubbers in my local store i knew just what to do!
ive never  tried stamp carving before so i went for simple design.
i tried out a few patterns on some scrap fabric first just using my stamp pad to work out the spacing before i started the actual fabric using fabric paint. i drew the grid using dressmarkers pencil (thats what the blue lines are) which washes out

heres my finished cozy Smiley

Love that fabric.  Bet you're the only one in town with a dodo cozy.  Smiley

Wow I do covet that dodo cosy.  How clever of you to make your own fabric.

Oh, I love dodos! How exactly did you carve the rubber? I mean, what tools did you use? The lines are very nice and clean, and thin!

thank you.

Oh, I love dodos! How exactly did you carve the rubber? I mean, what tools did you use? The lines are very nice and clean, and thin!
i used a craft knife for the outlines and some lino carving tools (i didnt use the lino that came with them though Undecided either the tools were cheap and blunt or the lino was cheap and rubbish but it wouldnt carve Roll Eyes, the lino cutters carve rubbers well though!) for the details on the wings, the mouth and the eye.
i used a flat sponge to apply the fabric paint, it was a little time consuming because too much paint and it filled in all the details so i had to apply lightly, stamp and reapply each time. im really fond of this design though. i might have to make myself something in Dodo fabric Smiley
