I had made this really awesome star shaped baby blanket for a friend a couple years ago, and when I found out that I was pregnant last year, I waned to make one for my baby. Unfortunately, I wen back to that pattern and it had been removed by the author! I looked around on Ravelry and ended up comparing a couple different free patterns to find a similar one. I found a good one, altered it a tiny bit, and got started. When I started way back in October, I didn't know the sex of the baby yet, so I settled on a basic rainbow+black palette. I ended up losing my hook partway through the project, so it took quite some time to complete. Plus, I am a super lazy crocheter. Sometimes, I'd pull it out to work on it, do two or three stitches, and zone out on Boardwalk Empire or Game of Thrones.

And here's a bonus shot of my kittie, Harvey, "helping" me. He was talking back to me after I caught him trying to steal my scissors.

Your little boy should love it. I hope it will be an heirloom in times to come.

Thank you, everybody, it's a great project that works up pretty quickly. I was sooooo tempted to just keep going, adding rows until it was a blanket big enough for mommy, lol. I DO love my rainbows! I figured adding the black would "man" it up a bit, even though all little kids love rainbows (or, at least, they did when I was one!).

Your Star-ghan is fabulous.  Love the use of black with the rainbow.  And absolutely adore the kitty pic! Grin

I adore this! I hope it stays in the family a long time. It's beautiful and the colours are amazing.
Tell your kitty it isn't nice to talk back and he shouldn't be playing with scissors, he has no thumb!

Thank you Smiley I'm thouroughly addicted to rainbows, so I suppose if my son ever loses interest in it, I will claim it for myself. It is big enough that it makes a great lap-ghan for an adult, but I could also always add more rows to make it larger.

That cat talks back to me all the time. He will listen to me when I tell him no, but he just has to say something about it. I guess I can't blame him, I have the same habit.

I like this. Be nice as a tv lap afghan for any age. I will have to try this one day.
