jenleahlyn I'm so sorry to hear about your health - I hope everything goes well!

I have another hexie project in this bunch, and I forget who it was (noodle-bug maybe?) who suggested a fabric swap but I'm all for that!  Fabric swaps can generally be done for just over the price of a standard letter, so they're a lot of fun!  Maybe we could even make it a full swap?

Here's my final few projects for the semester:

Challenge: DA - Department of Mysteries
SPEW: Not sure - it isn't a charity, though it's a friend in need!
House: Gryffindor
Name: Tutu 2!

Our friends have a few months of financial difficulty ahead, due to her in-laws (for whom she works) not having a contract at the moment and not being able to pay her unexpectedly.  Their daughter of course just went through a growth spurt, AND summer finally arrived.  This means she has no shorts!  I had enough yarn left from the first tutu to make a second, so I made this and will include a pair of shorts to go underneath for a fun little summer outfit. Her daughter adores fru-fru outfits so it'll definitely go over well, and our daughters will match as well!

Class: Alchemy
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor
Name: Hexie bookmark

I made this hexie  bookmark for my mom for her birthday, using scrap pieces - so it's basically fabric that was going to be thrown away, rebirthed into a useful bookmark!  I hope she likes it - she quilts too so I thought it was perfect for her.  It's actually ten 0.75" hexies sewn into two lines of 5, then stitched back-to-back.

I have one more project that's for the strawberry bean, but it needs a photo first!  It's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic related though Wink

I will comment on everything later but I wanted to get this last project posted.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arithmancy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Eevee ATCs
Brief Description: I realized that little Eevee has 8 evolutions he can be evolved into. So I made 8 ATCs depicting most of these evolutions (I did an actual Eevee instead of a Slyveon).

One final project before the semester ends!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: May Detention - Finish a WIP

I have updated the Care of Magical Creatures classroom for the last time!  Let me know if I have missed you...

It looks like no one took up the challenge of Extra Credit assignments this semester.  No matter the same will apply during the summer term!  I can't wait to see the new things that everyone will create!

Still squeaking in those final assignments!

    Challenge: Bertie Bott's Strawberry
    SPEW: n/a
    House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Alton Brown's Angel Food Cake with added Summer Berries
Project Page Link (if available): Recipe Here
Brief Description: I love Alton Brown. It only made sense to make his delicate Angel Food cake to go with macerated summer berries.

    Ingredients
    1 3/4 cups sugar
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 cup cake flour, sifted
12 egg whites (the closer to room temperature the better)
    1/3 cup warm water
1 teaspoon orange extract, or extract of your choice
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a food processor spin sugar about 2 minutes until it is superfine. Sift half of the sugar with the salt the cake flour, setting the remaining sugar aside.

In a large bowl, use a balloon whisk to thoroughly combine egg whites, water, orange extract, and cream of tartar. After 2 minutes, switch to a hand mixer. Slowly sift the reserved sugar, beating continuously at medium speed. Once you have achieved medium peaks, sift enough of the flour mixture in to dust the top of the foam. Using a spatula fold in gently. Continue until all of the flour mixture is incorporated.

Carefully spoon mixture into an ungreased tube pan. Bake for 35 minutes before checking for doneness with a wooden skewer. (When inserted halfway between the inner and outer wall, the skewer should come out dry).

Cool upside down on cooling rack for at least an hour before removing from pan.

Serve with summer berries and whipped cream. Yumstastic.

I have a few last minute assignments to turn in!

    Class/Challenge/House Pride: BEAN: Strawberry
SPEW: YES, this project is for a volunteer art lesson for a class of 4th graders at a public school
    House: Slytherin
Project Name: A Baby Strawberry Dinosaur ATC

This ATC is part of a set of 30 ATCs that I am making to do an art lesson about ATCs for a group of fourth graders. I will teach them about the origin of ATCs and then have them make one and then trade them for one of mine. This lesson is so good for making kids see the accessibility of art and that art can be a part of their lives with the time and materials that they have available to them.

    Class/Challenge/House Pride: Potions
    SPEW: n/a
    House: Slytherin
Project Name: Wire Wrapped Crystal Necklaces With Hand Mined Crystals

This project fits the assignment because the crystals used to make the pendants were actually dug out of the mine by ErinAquaheart and myself. I think crystals that were mined by hand qualify as a material that was difficult to source. It was at least physically difficult Smiley. Our puppy even helped! (See helpful puppy in the first pic)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Care of Magical Creatures
SPEW: YES, part of ATC lesson with 4th graders at a public school
    House: Slytherin
Project Name: Visual Illusion OpArt ATCs

This set of three ATCs display how you can use vivid colors and pattern to create visual illusion.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Dumbledore's Army: Master The Patronous Charm
SPEW: YES, this project is part of a volunteer art lesson for a 4th grade public school class
    House: Slytherin
Project Name: Kawaii Treats ATC set

This set of three ATCs is part of a larger group that will be traded with a class of fourth graders. I am trying to show them a large range of styles and subjects so that they can see that the art that they can do can have as much variety as they want.
