Challenge: Detention in the Dungeons - March
S.P.E.W.: n/a
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Vert-igo
Project Link: This pattern with my own tweaks
Project Description: I made these armwarmers that go up REALLY HIGH so that I could extend the wear-time of my many beloved T-shirts.  (Ironically, I'm wearing a really boring T in the photo, lol!)  This is the yarn that I started making my mozetta from before I figured out that self-striping did not = elegance in that pattern. ^_^  I love the yarn, though, and am super happy with how these came out.
Project Pic:

OK, now to update our common room and see if I can find any party guests to invite.  Cheesy

I love those arm warmers!! I'm totally jealous of anyone who knits.

I am going to adjust my O.W.L. I am still doing the Elsa modified dress but the mittens I was going to do the afgahn stitch with I am changing. I have spent like 3 hours trying to FIGURE this pattern out and it's nuts!!!! I'm still doing mittens but I am changing the stitch either to a single crochet or this really cool slip stitch one.
On the other hand, I have my tissue cut out for the pattern and all of the supplies. I will be cutting my fabric tonight and should be able to piece it/sew it tomorrow! Yay!!

Challenge: March Detention
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor
Project Name & Link: Random Granny Ghan
Brief Description: I have a massive stash of yarn, especially oddballs & leftovers skeins from previous projects.  Every so often, usually when I'm in between projects or need a break from a project, I grab a few of these stashed yarns and whip up granny squares.  No rhyme or reason to my color schemes or patterns, just whatever I grab and feel like doing.  I have finally gathered up these squares and made them into a proper ghan.  I let my kiddos figure out where each square should go.  It measures 66"x49" and is quite cozy. Haven't really decided it's home...but I'll probably be keeping this one. Cool
Project Picture:

little wonky here because cats kept photobombing & wrinkling up the ghan...seriously, this is one of the only pics without a kitty invasion

House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Spare Those Cuffs! (Detention in the Dungeons)
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) So, I landed a job back in November at an assisted living place working in the dining room. Our uniform was to be black pants and white short sleeved shirt. At the time I was living on pennies (well, I still am, just twelve instead of five) so I went to the thrift shop where they had no short sleeved shirts in November. I chose a long sleeved blouse and cut the sleeves off. The cuffs were quite fetching and I did not want to discard them. I made bracelets out of them.
I have been so busy since, and only just now completed this project. I am only showing one, since they look the same.
At first I sewed the sides right up, then tried to fit it over my hand. I mean, I have small wrists, but big hands and I spent a good 5 minutes trying to force them on. Um, how to get them off? Pliers. So I revamped and sewed differently and now I can get them on and off.
Embellished with keys and beads. I like how they came out!

I love that granny gahn! That is such a great idea to use up those tiny scraps that won't even make gloves or a decent beanie. I'm pretty sure I'm stealing that idea now.  Roll Eyes

Also, those cuffs are bomb diggity! lol! How very fun! They remind me of Alice in Wonderland and you just can't go wrong there  Cheesy
