Hi all,
my daughter came home from school yesterday and told us how she learnt about children in the Phillipines who live and work in the garbage piles. It is quite horrible and she said she couldnt eat her lunch after the class, as she was so sad...
I would really love to craft something for these children, but what? I was thinking maybe dresses like the lady who did them for the girls in Africa, but would they be practical and would it draw unwanted attention to them as I know the prostitution rate is horrendous over there. what about crafting for the boys as well?
I was also maybe thinking about hairbrushes with pretty gems or something glued on maybe, but again thats for girls?
hmmm any ideas. These kids have nothing but the clothes on their backs and often no shoes.
Im thinking of sending them to UNICEF over there.

Well I contacted http://www.littledressesforafrica.org/blog/# and they said that at times they send dresses to the Philippines as well. So I spent this morning very ethusiastically sewing up 4 pillowcase dresses so far!
I will be happy if they are sent to Africa or the Phillipines each is a great cause!

How lovely!  I have seen a documentary on this and it made me ill as well...how fortunate we are to have so much here...and what a lovely child you have to be bothered by the plight of others!
