I can't stop thinking about altered spoons - pictures in Somerset magazines, Pinterest boards and my weird knack of finding smushed and bent silverware while walking the streets of San Francisco.

So I am thinking of metal spoons, not wooden spoons. But I guess I shouldn't be prejudiced against the wood-burners or carvers in the group.

Let me know your thoughts - I'll add some photos.

No - don't limit it to just metal spoons - I would love to see what others come up with!  I think this is interesting - I was contemplating decorated spoon ornaments for this year's Christmas ornament, or decorated spoon pendents.

The Pre-K kids just helped me flatten a spoon with mallets. I used the hammer. It's not completely flat but the spoon part of the spoon is flat-backed. I promised to bring in more spoons tomorrow. Free labor!

I just joined my first swap in almost a year and don't want to overdo it, but I've been holding onto some spoons I rescued from the curb for over 10 years now...
When are you thinking of doing this swap?

This sounds like a fun new craft to use up all the stuff from previous crafts. Would love it.

Is there any way you can alter within your supplies?  If you don't have materials to stamp or cut the metal, you could still alter the surface in other ways - decoupage, wire wrapping, painting, gluing pieces onto the surface, or in the bowl of the spoon.

I was just thinking of making a set of decorated spoons for the wall of the kitchen, using larger ladles and serving spoons - either something diorama like, or sign spoons, using die cut letters decoupaged into the bowls - may or may not happen...
