Hi all. New person here. That unspun single is gorgeous- it reminds me of a storm cloud. I can see I'm going to learn a lot about my new obsession hanging around here!

On the unspun single Bella. After washing it, did you then sit back and your wheel and spin it again, but counter clockwise?

Yes.  You need to whack the ever living love out of the spun single when washing. Shock it in hot and cold water, beat it, squeeze it and be uncommonly mean with it.  It's good for working out frustrations.  Once it's dried, you take it back to the wheel and take the twist out by spinning it in the opposite direction. And that' s it! you don't have to set it again.  It's basically a fulled/felted yarn.  It's a bit fragile, but the fabric it makes is delectable!

That's a neat technique, and it looks great.

Another question about the single. Can that be done with a drop spindle? I love the look of it, but my place is very tiny. I haven't got room for a wheel, so I'd have to try doing it "by hand" if you know what I mean.

Absolutely! It's just a simple single, beaten and unspun.  You would just spin your spindle in the opposite direction when it was dry.
