About the foam tape - I know I don't usually have any on hand, so I used picture mounting squares. I'm sure something else could work too. You really just need it for dimension; it's only convenient because it's also already adhesive. So, if you had plain foam scraps, you could use those too, you'd just need to add an adhesive of some sort. Or thick cardboard cut into small pieces.

Good luck; if you make an ATC using this tutorial, I'd love to see it!  Grin
