I really have no money, but knew just what would make her happiest for Valentine's Day. I worked on this for a month. It begins with a large package and ends with a tiny but wonderful surprise. I was there as she opened each layer. An unforgettable experience.

First the big box which I hauled into her livingroom...

I cut out dozens of illustrations from one of her childhood favorite books that I got for free at a convenience store of all places, and added cut-out text to create funnies.

There are just too many to show, but each is funnier than the last.
Inside of that is another box 'wrapped' in giant easy-to-read "Who Called Notes" with personal jokes on them.

Inside that....
Paper with footie prints on it...

inside that, a fabric painted pillowcase -

next, a giant map of Greece with a favorite quote from the movie Twister

inside that, a box decorated with owls and funny names I cut out of our local phone book!

Names are stuff like Smart Rob, Sargeant Bruce, Pray Kayla, Patch Marvin, Hellman Joel.
inside that, paper that I french-knotted together, forming an envie.

Inside that, an envie featuring Nature inchies...

inside that, a photo I cut from a How to Drum book, with funnies added

inside that, some cut-outs from an antique How to Draw book... turned into an envie

inside that, an envie made from a Russian WatchTower magazine.

inside that, my rainbow zentangles with personal jokes hidden

inside that, a tiny ATC envie made from a Vermont map

And FINALLY  she gets to open her 'real' gift which is a mere ATC (after all that!!)

but the back announces that I quit smoking a month ago.

I must admit it is the most fun in Hell I have ever had. Instead of lighting up, I have spent the last month crafting this.

um,   yay?

    This is wonderful!

Am I right to assume that envies are envelopes?

What a wonderful gift, and so thoughtfully wrapped. I'm glad you got photos of all the layers. I love your sense of humor, especially with the Richard Scarry illustrations. Cheesy
