Every since I saw this project, I was determined to do it!

That is a 20" paper lantern covered in 225 origami fortune tellers.  I originally was going to use a different lantern, so I didn't think I needed as many, but change of plans....  Here are what 150 fortune tellers look like:

and on the lantern.... not even close to being enough:

Hung it up, and ended up adding the original lantern as well, here is with and without the lights on:

I am sooooo happy with the finished project!!!
Here is the tutorial i referenced:

I love that! I also might have to try it, seeing as I love to make fortune tellers. Thanks for sharing!

Nice!  I love the texture.  It must have taken you forever to fold all those fortune tellers.

I just rocked you! That is a wonderful paper lantern. My daughter and I used to fold those paper fortune tellers...and then you are supposed to put notes in them. Any hidden messages??? Grin Never mind. You don't have to tell. But it could be neat to hide a secret in there? I love it both ways, but lights on it must be very pretty.

I scored 3 round paper IKEA lanterns from Goodwill. Know I know what I will make with one of them. Excellent job.  Grin

Thank you so much!
It probably took me 2-3 weeks to do, working on it a bit every day.  I was a tad OCD about the folding though, and that definitely took the longest.  No hidden messages; I actually wanted the whole thing to look uniform, so anything written on the inside might have a been visible.

Thanks!

Holy smokes!! This is so cool!! I love the look of the final lantern. It must have been a ton of work to fold all of those fortune tellers. I used to make them by the dozen in middle school but it's been a while Smiley.

Congratulations on being featured in the best of list for 2014!!

Decided to go back through older posts.  Glad I did...  Shocked Truly lovely.  They would charge a lot of money in a lighting store for something with that texture.  I am impressed.
