I'm not a fan of bikinis or swimming costumes and so decided to make a swimming dress: I started out wanting to make an Edwardian-style one but they were all made of lots of heavy when wet material so went for board shorts instead. Sadly, it seems that the only polyester microfibre you can buy in the UK is for tents so I cut up some board shorts instead.

It's covered in pockets from the original shorts (mainly to hide the holes- the shorts were pretty cheap and badly made) and uses the elastic from the waist band to gather in at the back, allowing for more room to swim.  As there wasn't much room in the skirt due to the limited short material, I added some lycra pleats to stretch for kicking.

Totally ready for summer now!

I like this. There aren't enough swim dresses out there.
