To card or not to card, that is the question.

I have gotten both answers from local folks when it comes to it.  One lady swears NOT to do it, another insists it it is a must.
The fiber I have handy is 2 inches or so with some decent chunks.  It came from two German Angora rabbits - the kind you sheer for fur.  (Unlike English and French varieties) it is really clean too.

I nearly think I need to card, since I also want to add in fluff from my regular fur- type rabbits for the yarn.

Any thoughts from experienced spinners?  I have a drop spindle I am working with now.  Keeping eyes open for a wheel eventually!

Looking to de-stash cross stitch magazines, particularly Cross Stitch Gold or New Stitches?  Please drop me a line!  I'd love to swap or buy some missing from my library!

I personally don't card it, I think it makes the fibres stick out more, which helps the halo. But maybe that's just my way of justifying my own laziness. Also hello everyone, this is my first post. I look forward to being a part of the community.

Hi and welcome!
I'm sorry I didn't see your post sooner.  Summer is my busy season.  Thank you for your answer too.

I have some excellent news, I'm getting an angora!  It's parents are the ones I mentioned.  Hasn't been sexed yet, but it will be a delightful house rabbit addition that has a purpose.  Also, this one is a freebie- it has a splayed leg (birth defect).  Parent rabbits won't be breeding with each other again...  It has three good legs and bounces around just as much as it's siblings.  I have a soft spot for disabled animals that need a good life.

So a spoiled fiber animal pet will be great for this one.  Pictures when it comes home!
