This is my little girl over the moon with her new vanity I surprised her with today when she came home from school.

This is what I started out with. A couple of flea market finds; a wicker framed mirror and a shelf made from a shutter + leftover paint from painting my daughter's room 6+ years ago.

The mirror had been made to hang vertically & I wanted it to be horizontal which is just a tad wider than my shelf is long, so I added some hardware to the back for attaching it to the wall.

I then masked off the mirror area & began to paint.

Wicker is a total pain to paint in case you might want to try this, you've been warned. Wink You can see I'm using an old ice cream bucket to store the paint in...it's great! Has a handle & is airtight! So much better than messing with the can which had rusted a bit around the lid from being stored for so long in a damp area.

I also painted the shelf with 2 coats.

I mounted the mirror to the wall at my girl's eye level & then hung the shelf directly below it. It's really fabulous for my daughter because it has these great big pegs for hanging her necklaces, bracelets, & little purses from.

She can keep all her lotions, hairclips, hair brush, & whatnots on the shelf...so organized, so cute, so fun! She absolutely loves it!  Grin

I'm so thrilled to have finally completed this project. I've had the idea for a few months now & it's been one of my new year resolutions to get to that 'crafts to do' list hanging over my head.

I know a certain little girl in my life that would FREAK OUT if she came home to that in her room!  Cheesy You did a great job, and now I'm on the hunt for the goodies to make one my for my Little Miss.

Aww. How super cute for your little cutie. {Secret} Enamel spray paint. I know you were using up left overs, but for future projects with wicker....spray. Spray, Twist, turn, spray, lay it on plastic in the yard.

You did a wonderful job. And girlie looks sweet with it. What a wonderful surprise for her.
She looks like she is old enough for a "grown up girlie" room. I will guess 8 years old?

Our baby girls love those. And what a great way to organize. And what a sweet smile she has.
I think she might want to take this one to college. Great item for the dorm room.

Oh wow. I'm so pinning this!! I've been looking for a used vanity but never thought of simply a mirror with a shelf. I'll be keeping an eye open for this option too!

It came out so neat and beautiful!!
