I was contemplating what to make for this challenge while out doing some shopping.  I wasn't planning on buying something to repurpose, as I'm a huge pack rat and I have tons of things already waiting to grow up and be something else.  But when I saw this sad, little completely busted Domo toaster sitting on a shelf at BestBuy, I knew I wanted it.  They sold it to the crazy art lady for under 5$, and I'm sure they laughed about it in the break room...But I was and am still delighted by my purchase, even more so, now that it has transformed into my Bucket-O-Craftyness!!

Just to be clear on how busted this poor toaster was.  I was able to glue all the missing bits of plastic back in place.  You can still see the cracks, but it just looks like Domo has a rugged scar now Grin

I managed to remember to take a progress shot!  I used 2 pieces of the box, duct tape, and packing tape to make what would be the new bottom of the bucket.  The feet are drawer pulls from IKEA around 15 years ago.  I cut little circles from a little cutting board, to support the screw heads inside.  I just stapled the two ends of the bucket strap.  I then hot glued the two pieces of cardboard on each side of the strap, and screwed the feet on.

I was planning on having the duct tape showing, but at the last minute, I decided to let the original packaging be visible...

From the back...

and from the top..

All this stuff fits inside!  I'm actually very pleased with how much I can get into my new Bucket-O-Craftyness.  Here's a rundown..
1.  A little skull can with some of my Sharpies
2.  Half of a Pringles can container to hold glues and embroidery thread spools.  You can just see the crumb tray from the toaster under the glues.  It has a lip on it, so it will be handy for small beads or screws when I take things apart.
3.  Two googly eye containers.  One with wire spools and another with thread and googly eyes.
4.  Chisel tip felt pens (they go in the skull can)
5.  Teflon scissors, small cutting mat. more googly eyes in a mini monster pet container, and an awl.
6.   Brass nail punch, folding box knife, Martha Stewart burnisher, push up eraser, They Might Be Giants pencil, soft burnishing tool, Elmer's craft knife, and wooden point turner.
7.   Two pliers and wire clippers in a small cell phone case
8.   My thread book and the two image plates from the toaster (the toaster would burn the image of Domo on to the bread as it toasted...).  One face I added a duct tape tab handle, as the edges are quite sharp.  I will use it to scrape things, and as a stencil, if I want Domo someplace Grin  The second face I made into some "bling", which eventually became useful in my crafty bucket.  I backed the face with a thick piece of clear plastic.  I used a lazer tape to bind the edges, so it is very sparkly and shiny.  I couldn't find the ball chain I wanted, but while digging I did find a Christmas decoration that looked just like ball chain, so I used that.  I'm glad too, as it is way lighter weight then the ball chain would have been.  I then stuck the flattest rare-earth magnet that I had between the layers.  So, when I'm hand sewing, I can just stick my needle to my Domo bling and keep track of it.

And I'll close with a pic of Domo handstand Bucket-O-Craftyness in it's natural environment.

Thanks for looking Grin
