Starbucks Bothwell Street, Glasgow, are trying to raise 12,000 to pay for a kidney dialysis machine for Kidney Kids Scotland. To help encourage people to donate they are trying to knit a scarf the lenght of Bothwell Street - 0.2miles or 321.9 metres!
So how can you help?

Well you could either knit a section (long or short, every bit helps). All they ask is that it is:
  • 40 sts wide
  • Double knit (UK) Worsted/8ply (US/AUS)
  • 4mm/size 8 needles (UK), size 6 (US)
OR if you have DK yarn your dont want any more you could pop it in the post to them, for others to knit with.  Grin

UPDATED: Attention all crocheters please feel free to crochet a section too. Apparently one of the other organisers family is already doing so!

Please send your scarf sections or yarn donations, along with a name and Town/state/country to:

Starbucks Bothwell St. BigKnit
33 Bothwell St
Flat Basement
Glasgow
SCT
G2 6AU

And if you are feeling really generous, here is the JustGiving link->  http://www.justgiving.com/Charlie-MacDonald1

Here is what I got us started with:

Please help us towards this worthwhile goal  Grin PM me direct if you have any questions too

x

PS once the year is over the plan is to remake the scarf into blankets to donate to a local homeless charity  Cheesy

I'll stick my nose in again as I'm here. It will be size 6 in the US,size 8 is the Imperial size for those of us who inherited Grandmas old needles  Wink

You are a wealth of information!  I appreciate it...and it is so interesting to learn the different terms...when I come to England, I will be able to shop the yarn shops with this knowledge and not look foolish! Grin....of course, you will have to come along to stop my from adding too much to my stash, k-star!

Thanks so much to both of you...I am knitting up a rainbow of colors for my length and will just knit until all the little balls of yarn are gone! Grin

Do you think it is better to make many smaller lengths instead of one huge length since they will be turned into blankets?
