My best friend and I have been friends for a long time but it wasn't until we were both diagnosed with autoimmune diseases that we became the very dearest of friends.  We were the girls that were making something out of life while being sick.  We often spoke of our paths in life and how motherhood was not for us.  So imagine my surprise when last June she walked into my house crying and said "I am pregnant."  She was happier than I had ever seen her, it was a beautiful moment that I will treasure forever.  I immediately got onboard and came up with a bunch of crafts for us to make together.  We were having a great time getting ready for Shane (baby's name) when Jen (my best friend) found out Shane is very sick and may not live past birth.

I felt so helpless in the face of her heartbreak I didn't know what to do at first.  Then I remembered I believe in miracles, I believe that anything is possible with God and I believe in the power of prayer. With this in mind, I went to work on putting Shane on prayer lists around the world.  I also decided that as Jen's best friend it was my job to make sure she keeps hope alive.  I was immediately inspired to make a series of postcards that I could send to her for the rest of her pregnancy.  I had no idea how many I was going to make but I decided as I made them I would pray for Shane.  It turns out the magic number was 10 postcards.  I named them a Series of Hope.

#4 Shane's initials are SEA

The first one was sent today.

Thanks for looking

Wow, this is so beautiful.  Of course the postcards, but also your spirit, friendship, and the hope you are passing on to others.

My prayers go out for your friend, too. And what a wonderful gesture. And beautiful artworks. I just sent my best angel. When your friend's belly gets warm...it arrived. I pray to three different spirits. You might want to encourage her into Zen. It can bring her comfort and peace. I am glad she has a wonderful friend like you.

They do.  Sending lots of love their way!

I also must say that these really touched me personally.  My mom has terminal cancer and sometimes it's hard to smile and remember to continue to hope.  Thank you for sharing

Thank you for sharing your beautiful works of art and your deeply personal story as well.  It looks like they will inspire not only your friend, but many people here as well.  God bless you, your friend and her baby.
