Willing to personal swap for art of my doggies!

I have some 12 gauge ammo casings and am trying to figure out a way to cleanly remove the plastic casings.  They are quite hard, can be cut, but then are secured in the brass ends very securely, so while I can cut and trim away to the edges of the brass, I can't cleanly remove them from inside, and I want the option of using the brass as bezels - does anyone know how to remove the bits from the middle cleanly??  I have tried cutting them into bits and pulling with pliers, but all that does is distort them and scratch up my hands.  It also looks like there is heavy compressed paper in the base of some of them.  I am wondering if I should put them in the wood stove and try burning them out?  Of course, that could make a huge melted waste too - unless it would be melted enough, that when it cooled, I can peel it off the metal?
