Most of my ephemera is from my time working at a used bookshop, years ago - from the boxes of books people brought in. In among the books I'd find magazines, stickers, paper doll books with half the dolls cut out, kids books falling apart... So many treasures the bookstore had no use for, and I got to keep them. Smiley

BUT! My closet is still full of buckets of the stuff, and I've gotten all the inspiration from it that I'm gonna get, I think. I'd rather pass it on than toss it out; some of it is really cool.  Anybody else out there in this boat? Let's pass some paper around!

(I don't think I could run the swap, I just want to be in it! So, I'm also looking for a volunteer...)

Wulf ran an ephemera swap just before the holidays, might be willing to organize another.

Oh, haha, I didn't even see that this kind of swap is popular enough that the one in November was round 10. Note to self: use the tickybox "include swap threads". There's some great stuff in that gallery.

I will ask Wulf about it, didn't mean to step on any toes. Smiley

We were just talking about this in Art Journal-along thread so I think some of the art journalers would love to do this. And if Wulf isn't available, I could organize this.

It sounds like Wulf doesn't have time to organize right now, so that would be awesome Smmarrt. Thanks!

I would definitely be in on this one! I would especially like it if it is a givers/needers type swap... or even a give 5/ take 1 swap... because  even though I don't need anything else, who doesn't like getting a couple of pieces of new ephemera now and then???

I'm in - as organizer.

I've never done a "Givers and Needers" swap so I will research and get back on later tonight. In the Art Journal-along thread, we were discussing  a no money swap - just sharing what you have, and spending only on postage.

So I'll come up with some ideas and post them in a little while.

It looks like the last one had different levels of participation. I like the idea of only sending from your current stash - I definitely can't spend beyond postage right now. Smiley

What if the questionnaire includes a simple thing where you say:
- how many manila envelopes can you send?
- how many manila envelopes would you like to receive?

Then people could do an even swap or lean to giver/needer. Maybe put a max of 5ish or whatever you're comfortable with as organizer?

Yes, I would include questions like that. I think I will use the Craftster guidelines that newbies can only send and receive one envelope. But FOCs (Friends of Craftster) can send and receive 2.

And let's define ephemera so all who are perusing this thread understand and agree what it is.

From the Merriam-Webster online dictionary:
"ephemera
 noun \i-ˈfe-mər-ə, -ˈfem-rə\

: things that are important or useful for only a short time : items that were not meant to have lasting value
Full Definition of EPHEMERA

1 :  something of no lasting significance usually used in plural

2 ephemera plural:  paper items (as posters, broadsides, and tickets) that were originally meant to be discarded after use but have since become collectibles

Example - He has a large collection of old menus and other ephemera."

Our ideas:

tickets, posters, flyers, newspapers (foreign language), post cards, good scraps from scrapbook paper and other painted or crafted papers, bits of ribbons, yarn or rick rack, buttons and seam tape, magazine images, greeting cards, colored envelopes, small decorative paper bags/gift bags - basically things we would use to make paper crafts and mixed-media art pieces.
