I sent these to spikefan in the Hunger Games: Catching fire swap - two characters that she liked.

To get the image, I found pictures of the actors and used a photo editing software to lighten, darken, and sharpen them, until they looked almost like stencils. Then I traced that image in pencil, and used it as a guideline when I painted over it in acrylic paint. I really like this technique!

Daaaayum. I saw the thumbnail, and it looked like a big fancy painting, not a wee little portrait!

Whatever happened to the ongoing hoopla swaps?

Aha. Acadian Driftwood ...you have reassured me that tracing is still art. I have often felt guilty of tracing. Even when the final product was indeed mine. And was not copied from other artworks, just from photos, which is art, too. But not exactly the same.

I really like these. I don't know Hunger Games, but it looks as if you captured the characters well. The eyes are very compelling.


NEW REQUEST: Need quilting fabric with ONLY purple, grey, green. Solids or Prints in any combination/shades, but NO OTHER COLORS ALLOWED. HELP! They are hard to find.
