I find the best inspiration with a given theme or subject. That's why I love the monthly swap.. everyone has such wonderful and diverse wishes, it's impossible not to be inspired  Cheesy Go check out the ongoing ATC gallery for some examples. There are all levels of artists, all sorts of creative people, and I bet they will inspire you!

It's also a great way to challenge yourself by picking a theme that "scares" you. For example, if you feel thou can't draw animals, making a cat ATC can inspire you to push your creativeness forward.

Sometimes experimenting helps to inspire as well. By some new papers/pens/stamps... Whatever really, and see what happens.

Hope that helps a little  Smiley

i do best when i think of it as an experiment, not a finished project. if it doesn't turn out well, then no big deal. i like to start with a technique when i don't have a clear idea of what i want to create. i'll also layout materials that go together so i don't waste time digging through my stash.  i'll draw a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 grid on a sheet of paper then do all the backgrounds in watercolor before i cut them apart. or i'll stamp a bunch of images from the same set, or theme on a sheet of paper and add color, them use a punch to cut them out. then i can take my pieces and create collages. some i trade as atcs, others i attatch to the front of blank greeting cards.

I agree 100% with kosmicgirl, the Ongoing ATC Swap is a wonderful source of inspiration.  Seeing people's themes gets me to thinking about what kind of cards I could make.  I like it best when I'm able to combine 2 (or more!) of their themes into a single card, it really helps direct me to what I want to create.  Also, if I've claimed someone who has a link to their Pinterest in their profile, sometimes I'll go stalk their boards to see if any images they've Pinned particularly speak to me, and then use that as a source image.

ATCs are perfect, too, in that they're such a small size - it's not that overwhelming to play around with ideas Smiley
