So this is my first quilt and let me say I always pick a giant project for my first go at something new (dummy me Lips sealed). Well I saw a quilt called Marvelous Blooming quilt, it had the pattern and everything and I was so excited. It was bright and had all sorts of colors (I love lots of color  Roll Eyes) But as I got to the backing and binding part of the project, they got a little vague on what sort of fabrics to use, so I picked what I liked for the backing and ended up finding fabric like in the pattern picture for the binding. However, once I started trying out the binding fabric along with my already basted quilt sandwich, I don't think it looks like it goes with the quilt at all. I apologize now for the phone photos.

Enough of me talking this is what I have: Quilt top - http://flic.kr/p/jnVNLK
Basted and put aside (its huge) - http://flic.kr/p/jnXm38
Just for reference this is the binding I bought- http://flic.kr/p/joaFD8

I agree that that fabric wouldn't look good on the quilt, which is gorgeous!  I'd go with something more bold like an orange or even match one of the darker blues.

Be sure to post a finished picture.

Cheesy Thank you! I just started making a little stash of fabric and I have some fabrics to try out on it. I'll make sure to put some finished pictures.

I like the idea of a polka dot binding. But I agree with Homerof2. Something darker to frame it out. A purpley blue or orangey red.

And now you have a green dot in stash for the next project!  Wink

Seeking scraps! I'm in need of a variety of white on white scraps. (2.5inch square minimum) for pixel quilts. Have any? Swap for? PM me! Smiley

I like the idea of a bolder color binding too.  Did you finish the quilt?
