So, I wanted to try to bake a cake within a cake and thought I would start with an easy one. I saw this technique on Pinterest and gave it a try.

Basically, I baked two pound cakes. The first one, with food coloring, and then cut out the hearts with a cookie cutter.

The main cake, I layered the bottom with the rest of the batter, then stacked the hearts in, the put the rest of the batter over the top.

I like the way it turned out for my first attempt. Next time, I thing I might do something to stabilize the hearts or whatever I want to make a little bit better. The hearts moved a little bit so I need to pay closer attention to keeping them in the middle.

There's not much in this world that can't be improved by either chocolate, bacon or glitter.

It looks lovely! And just because it isn't perfect, it is perfect  Wink

You bake the heart-cake twice, isn't the cake too dry (not sure if that is the right sentence, but I think you get it anyway) Just asking...

Anyway, I love it! Great attempt if you ask me!

Thanks! It actually is pretty moist, maybe because I made a pound cake and they are pretty dense. I am thinking that if I use a regular cake next time, I might use pudding in the mix to keep it moist.
