This is my first time posting on this site and I'm pretty excited!   Cheesy

My stepson is a HUGE Sonic the Hedgehog fan and his favorite character is Shadow, so for his 15th birthday I made him this cake.  This is my first time EVER making a cake with a decoration on it, so be gentle!  He LOVED it!!  I hand drew is using the picture above it as inspiration.  It's a box cake and used the tubes of icing with the pointed tips you can get at the grocery store or craft store.  My mom passed away unexpectedly last February and she used to make cakes on the side for extra money.  She was VERY good at it and much more creative than I'll ever be, so doing this cake myself was a homage to her memory.  I think she would have been proud!!

It looks very gooey and yummy. And who knows, maybe you will try more in the future. If a full cake seems overwhelming, there are also fancy cookies you could make  Grin Or cupcakes?

Snicker here  Cheesy

I have bought store bought cookies, and then decorated them with frostings for a party. I was in a pinch for time. I didn't pass them off for completely mine, though. These were friends, and they understood. Just an idea for you if you wish to practice more frosting skills.

You did wonderful. I am sure your son loved it.

Edit to add: I take the step out of anyone's family. You are bonded and joined. I have several additional children who are not my own, biologically speaking. I also have two Moms.  Grin We love each other as family. That is all that matters. Sorry. Off my soap box now.

Congratulations on your first cake!  You did a great job, it was instantly recognizable from the thumbnail on the Craftster front page.  I'm so glad your stepson loved it.  Your mom is definitely proud.  Smiley

Thank you everyone!  It was pretty fun to do, though a bit nerve wracking and he did really love it so made it so worth it!  Grin

And T, that is so true!  He's a great kid and I love him like my biological kid, so totally understand what you're saying!  Blood bond isn't always needed to have a wonderful family!
