I just finished a poncho for my cousin's baby (due this month) -- intended for the fall. It was a stash-buster project, but the only thing I had enough of 1 color was this dark green homespun (which, by the way, I officially hate to work with). The resulting knit is nice, though. I added a running stitch of pink to "girl it up" and freestitched some flowers.

Oh, I love the added touch! I too hate homespun!  It always unravelled for me!

It's a wonder I learned to knit at all, since that was the first yarn I bought! But I persevered and got something else, which sucked less, then worked my way up to the "gooder" stuff. Same with needles. The homespun & the "suede" from Lion's Brand are really a pain to work with!

I mostly used this pattern, with some changes to accomodate my different size yarn & needles. Then I just winged it on the embellishments.

Oooooh.  I have some homespun that I would love to get rid of but can't bring myself to throw out.  My niece is going to be a year old in Nov.  I juts need to figure out sizing.  And this time I HAD BETTER get a thank you from the parents.  She has gotten booties and hats and I haven't gotten one picture or thank you.  Maybe this time I'll include a note saying I would like a picture.  But I digress...............

GREAT JOB!

Nuthin' more frustrating than working on something for hours & hours and getting no response. In my family, they only rarely do thank yous, so I don't expect to hear about this gift. It happens a lot... I knit stuff for some friends - husband & wife - and haven't heard boo about either gift.
