I'm loving this thread! I have some shares, but not the time to share them now: mom's visiting from out of town.

Two things:
1.LisasTeaTime: I know it's not a contest, but I have 3 crock pots and so I win.
2. I have made Lisa's dump cake with a few different types of filling and cake mixes and DAMN, they're good.

The Australian summer is the three months of the year I wouldn't dream of using the crock pot... except that I did our steamed Christmas pudding in it and it was sensational! I'm convinced it is a less steamy, hot and bothersome way to do it than the conventional stove-top boiling.

The crockpot is EXCELLENT for warm weather cooking! My gosh girls, just plug that sucker in on the porch! LOL, nothing but cold happens in my kitchen when it's roasting hot outside, I don't believe in air conditioning so it's BBQ and outdoor crockpottery all the way.

I have a mini crock pot and it's perfect for a pork loin, fat trimmed off, cut in 2 halves to fit the pot, added 1/3 cup of chicken broth and beef broth, tsp or so of thyme, fennel seeds, dried parsley, and plenty of garlic, 1/2 can of fire roasted tomatoes, sprinkles of sea salt and pepper, let 'er cook on slow overnight and in the morning you'll be wanting slow-cooked, falling-apart pork for breakfast (which we do!). We keep it in the fridge to pick at it all week, my daughter and I love meat, but more as an additive to rice and vegetables or something, so it's perfect for that.

I have three crock pots too!  We love to entertain and so I will make one pot with chicken tacos, one pot with beef tacos, and one pot with Little Smokies in some sort of sauce.  So much easier than having to have someone stand out at the grill!!!

Mmmmm.....little smokies.....

Here's my brisket recipe (directly from my blog):
I am going to tell you something, this is the best brisket you will ever eat. Now, don't even tell me that yours is just as good or better, cause it's not true. The recipe I am about to give you will be passed down from generation to generation. They will name monuments after you. Yes, it is that good.


Beef Brisket
2 tablespoons oil
1 3-4 pound brisket
1 can beer (the cheaper the better)
2/3 cups brown sugar
1 can tomato paste
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup mustard
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tablespoon paprika
salt and pepper to taste
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet. Brown brisket - yes both sides (about 10 minutes)
Transfer meat to crockpot
Pour beer into skillet and simmer for one minute
Add beer to crockpot

In a medium bowl, add & mix remaining ingredients
Pour over brisket in the pot
Cook on high for two hours and then for 6 hours on low
Cut or mince-pour a little sauce over and serve on a bun or without-your choice.

When you win the Nobel Peace Price for bringing the masses together over this little piece of heaven,  make sure you thank me in your acceptance speech.

I don't think I have ever had beef brisket.... Might have to try that one if I can get over the tomato paste and mustard (YUCK!).
