Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

so my options are either sending in a huge box (13x13x17) or in a padded envelope. I tried to put the painting in the medium sized flat rate box but it was too small and I wouldn't close it. I hate that they don't sell canvas friendly boxes anywhere  Angry
going to see if the padded envelope works. Now I wish I made a scarf lol

You can cut up a bigger box. Save money by measuring it and print your own postage at home from the USPS website. You still have to give it to them at the counter. I got a postal scale for a few dollars at a rummage sale and I use my bathroom scale for big stuff. Measure you alone, measure you and the package, then subtract the difference to get you package weight. Kind of a pain but the PO is on a mission to charge the biggest prices if you don't know better. They tried to charge me $26 to mail 6 blown eggs with a little extra in the box.

If you back it with stiff cardboard, you can probably send it fine in the padded envelope anyways - I have received hoops like that, and I have sent things like that and they have arrived fine.

You could also call around and see if anyone like UPS or UHaul sells mirror boxes.  They're about the right size for art.   Smiley   Or maybe the Priority Mail 1095 box might work?
Inside Dimensions: 15-1/4" x 12-3/8" x 3"
Outside Dimensions: 15-5/8" x 12-7/16" x 3-1/8"

I ended up putting cardboard on the back and front of the canvas and then put it in the padded envelope.

The priority box wouldn't work because the canvas is 12x16

Just need to get it to the PO now Smiley
