I love to make quilled snowflakes for my Christmas tree.  Some are simple ones that I teach as "make and takes" at scrapbooking crops and some on my tree are much more complicated.

I use Hammermill glossy 80 lb. paper and shred it with a hand held shredder.  Because the paper is glossy, it reflects the light and the snowflakes are enhanced by the serrated edges.

Here are a few of my snowflakes.

Ordinary white glue like Elmers glue works well.  Just a little dab works well.  Just hold it a couple seconds more than you would with regular porous paper.

Thanks, I'm tempted to try quilling with magazine cover pages or maybe inside pages: it would be glossy and colorful.

Gorgeous! I've done a little bit of quilling so I know how much time and effort you must have put into these. They are so delicate!

What a smart idea to use paper from your shredder too!
