I had never made a gingerbread house before this holiday but I've always wanted to try to make one. I started off with a couple of kits and had fun doing those, but I really wanted to try to make the windows out of melted candies (the kits didn't have open windows). I found a pattern on cakecentral.com for a church made completely out of icing, and decided to use the template for my church. I'm sure I made my walls much thicker than necessary, but I'm still happy with it. My cat really likes it, too. She has licked one side of the steeple smooth!
