Yay! Partners soon! I am so happy. Stamp carving is kind of an instant gratification craft for me so Yay I get to carve soon!

YESSS!!! I am so excited to start stalking!  Cheesy

I want to give a BIG thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on my piece.  After much experimenting and several more hours of work, I have ended up with something I am happy with:

I ended up doing the cross-hatching for the ocean three times!  Because I originally tried to do it with my size 1 carving tip, the resulting lines were not deep enough to make a good impression on the print, so I had to go back over all of them with my size 2 tip (you can see a spot where I missed a small section underneath the ballast -- oops!)  While the lines are super uneven, I think it adds a nice choppiness to the waves.

    Very nice.

I ended up buying a whole new carving kit. My carving tools weren't in the best condition. And it arrived today. It came with 2 tools, a rubber stamp block & some other bits and pieces. I can't wait to start!

I think you did grand vincentvanbuck. I have been watching your progress. I don't see a boo boo. And the wavy lines certainly add to the piece. It has great character. I really like it!

To help pass the time while waiting for partners, here's the "warm-up" stamps I carved, to use on something for another swap.

Gorgeous stamps, Wulf!  They make me feel so warm and cozy...

And please forgive me, SilverMoon, I neglected to comment on the awesome stamps you posted earlier. I especially love the ones for your kids' teachers!  What a wonderfully personalized gift, especially for a teacher.  My students are all high schoolers, but they still get excited when I stamp their papers, heheh.  Grin

Master Nine's teacher was so excited to get his thumbs up stamp he immediately broke out a stamp pad and stamped a bunch of thing right then and there. I also gave the teachers some sheets of merit stickers, fun shaped sharpeners (wheelie bins!) and a giant pen, because I have friends who teach, and they say stationery is the best gift. And who doesn't love fun stationery? I certainly do!

Oh, and Wulf, I LOVE that coffee stamp!
